Gary Poyner

Meeting : 9 Augusr 2007

Observations of variable stars – of which there are many types – can be carried out with various instruments from binoculars to large telescopes, and amateur astronomers make an important and valuable contribution to the store of data. Gary Poyner’s skill and experience has earned him an international reputation, and he has recently recorded his 200,000th VS observation. His excellent presentation, illustrated with vivid graphics and movies, incorporated astrophysics, historical observations and observational techniques.
