The
meeting – attended by 62 Members and guests – began with a
recorded Christmas message from the Honorary President of the Society, Dr
Allan Chapman (who was unable to attend due to a lecturing engagement). The
dinner was prepared by Lorraine Crook (the Society’s Treasurer), ably
assisted by Phil and Ben. Dr Chris Lintott’s presentation was much
enjoyed by all, and their appreciation was expressed in an elegant vote of
thanks delivered by David Downham. Dr Lintott was then presented with a box
of tea-bags (a tradition inaugurated in respect of Allan Chapman’s
insatiable tea-drinking ability) and, in view of the season, was also given
an additional present – an electric kettle. |
